Purpose:
The purpose of the District Communications Representatives (DCR) committee is to promote transparency and involvement through improved communications between the district, campus, community and media. This committee will also provide an additional point of contact at each campus to assist in communication efforts in the event of a crisis.

 

Representation:
Each campus will provide one representative to serve on the DRC. An alternate should be assigned to ensure the campus is represented at all monthly meetings.

 

Elections/Terms:
The campus principal will assign the DCR for their campus. Representatives/alternates must be full time BISD employees and meet the following qualifying criteria:

  • Willingness to serve the entire one school year term
  • Willingness to accept the responsibilities required of a DCR representative
  • Willingness to provide campus representation at each of the DCR meetings
  • Demonstrates positive and professional representation of the campus

 

 

 

Meetings:
Meetings will be conducted monthly and will be led by the Communications Coordinator or Public Relations Administrator. The purpose of the meetings will be to discuss upcoming or past events and activities at both the district and campus levels and determine various communication efforts for those defined.

 

Committee Guidelines:
The following guidelines shall apply for this committee:

 

  • The meetings will be limited to one hour in length to respect the time of the campus representatives
  • Campus representatives will be given an opportunity to share upcoming campus events that are open to the general public, as well as positive campus or classroom activities that are newsworthy.

 

 

 

Responsibilities of the Campus Representative:

 

  • Campus representatives will be required to bring a list of positive campus/classroom activities and upcoming campus events to share.
  • Representatives will be required to communicate district-wide events and activities to their campus principal and help ensure that the information is communicated to the campus staff and community via campus newsletters, campus website, social media, etc.
